History

The Forensic Consultants Association (FCA) began informally in the early 1980's when John Fiske Brown and Dr. Dan Vomhof called a meeting of expert witnesses to discuss their common goals. Thirty-one attended that meeting, including accident reconstructionists, accountants, building contractors, engineers, physicians, private investigators, psychologists, and scientists. The organization began to take form before it had an official existence. Attorneys, judges and other experts spoke to the group about how to improve as expert witnesses.

A Code of Ethics, a Constitution and Bylaws followed and the organization evolved into a non-profit corporation. Publication of a Directory of FCA Experts began in the mid-1980's and by 1990 was mailed annually to thousands of attorneys in San Diego County and Orange County, California. With this website, more and more FCA experts are becoming available nationally.
